In the days of opportunity where everyone every institute is training students making youth learn all the technical aspects but making the youth learn skills is the important factor. Now we all know that organizations charge a big amount for making people skilful and globalize skilful NGO is taking up the task to making country people skilful.

Skill development is a process of identifying useful gaps and developing and sharpening these skills. It is important because your skills determine your ability to execute your plans with success.

Skill development has been neglected in people and people do not focus on skills and focus on learning and marks on report cards.

Why skills development is neglected?

People are often impressed by what others have accomplished without realizing what they went through to get there. NGO sees their awards and victories and makes gross assumptions about what it takes to succeed.

Your skill development: Hard and Soft skills

  • Hard Skills: Skills relating to any specific task; are usually easily quantifiable. They tend to be knowledge-based, such as proficiency in a subject, certification, and technical skills. Fluency in Spanish, skills in XYZ software, graphic design, and programming are all hard skills.
  • Soft skills: Skills relating to personality tend to be transferable, such as communication, leadership, time management, stress management, decision making, adaptability, ability to deal with adversity, and networking.

Skill development also increases employment opportunities, as when aspirants will get skilled they will automatically get placed in their dream organization, or else these skills can also help in building up their own enterprise. India has a literacy rate of around 70%, which is less than some of the least developed countries, and when it comes to employability, only 20% of them are employable. Literacy is not just restricted to education but even broadens to the concept of skills, which comprises technical expertise, vocational skills, transferrable skills, digital skills, and other such knowledge and abilities required for employment and livelihood. According to a survey, only 25% of the Indian workforce has undergone a skill development program, and India needs a higher number of skilled workforce.

Skill development is a vital tool to empower people, safeguard their future, and for the overall development of an individual. It is an important aspect that enhances employability in today’s globalization. Skills are as essential as one’s academic status. Education and skills should now go hand in hand. They are the roots behind the economic growth and community development of a country.

In this context, the acquisition of education and skills can lead to industrial advancement, economic diversification, innovation, technological evolution, and the overall development of the country.
